Wishma TV:The cities in India that have access to the 5G network as of now are displayed below for your convenience.
After many delays, on October 1st of this year, 5G—the next generation of mobile broadband—was released in India. Nearly two months after the introduction, Airtel and Jio are steadily expanding 5G coverage to more and more places across the country. Take a glance at who has changed in 5G since its “launch” in October.
What companies are responsible for bringing 5G to India?
Unfortunately, only two of India’s three major telecom providers currently offer 5G services. Both Airtel and Jio provide 5G services. Until now, Vodafone Idea has not announced any developments concerning the rollout of 5G services across the nation. Jio’s True 5G network is a standalone (SA) network, whereas Airtel’s 5G Plus service is a non-standalone (NSA) service that uses the current 4G network’s infrastructure.
For 5G service, which frequencies are used in India?
In India, multiple 5G bands, including both high- and low-frequency bands, are in service. Here you can observe how the operators are using the 5G airwaves.
Where can people get 5G service?
Several major cities in India either currently support 5G or are on track to do so over the next few months. Support for 5G will gradually roll out to more Tier II and Tier III regions. We anticipate that by 2024, the entire country will have access to 5G between Airtel and Jio.
Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Siliguri, Nagpur, Varanasi, Panipat, Gurugram, and Guwahati all have access to Airtel 5G as of late. Airtel has promised to roll out its 5G network nationwide by the end of this year in all major cities, and in even more locales by the end of 2023.
To date, Jio 5G service is live in the following cities: Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Varanasi, Nathdwara, Pune, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, and Kolkata. Jio also made the announcement earlier today that its 5G service is now live in all 33 district headquarters in the state of Gujarat.
What 5G-capable smartphones are available in India at the moment?
There are already a large number of 5G smartphones available, all of which are capable of operating on the next-generation network, but few of these gadgets in India have been updated to support the 5G bands. These software modifications to prepare for 5G have an uncertain future at the moment.
Device makers including Xiaomi, Realme, and Nothing have released upgrades compatible with Airtel 5G and Jio 5G networks. Unfortunately, major companies like Google have not yet published software updates to tackle these issues. While Apple has released the upgrade solely for iOS Beta users and the stable release is slated to reach consumers sometime next month, other brands, like Oppo, have already handed out the necessary changes to most of their 5G device lineup. As of this month, 5G updates for all Samsung devices that are capable of 5G should be available.
