New Delhi: (Priyanka Gandhi’s First Poll )
Sources told NDTV Wednesday that Congress star Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will likely run for office for the first time from Raebareli in Uttar Pradesh, which is a stronghold for the party and where former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi won three times.
Mr. Gandhi will also run from his current seat in Wayanad, Kerala. Winning here in the last election helped him keep his spot in the Lok Sabha.
The big debut of Priyanka Gandhi
Will she or won’t she? that’s been the question about Ms. Gandhi Vadra and elections for a long time. Before 2019, she made a lot of noise when she said “why not” when asked if she would run for office from Varanasi, which is Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s home district.
To that point, she was the only Congress leader to win a place in the UP Lok Sabha.
Raebareli and Amethi Again To Rahul Gandhi
Mrs. Gandhi’s move from the Lok Sabha to the Rajya Sabha—she was chosen from Rajasthan—was meant to show a change in party leadership before the general election.
As she did this, she spoke to the people of Raebareli on an emotional level.
Sources said she might speak at protests in the district on February 18.
The 4th and 5th phases of voting in the state take place on February 23 and 27 in the Amethi and Rae Bareli assembly districts.
Congress and the Samajwadi Party, which are both part of the alliance, are running candidates against each other for a number of Assembly seats.
Rae Bareli Assembly seat
Ajaypal Singh and Manoj Kumar Pandey of the SP are running against each other in Unchahar in the Rae Bareli district. In Sareni, Ashok Singh of the Congress is in a “friendly match” with Devendra Pratap Singh of the SP. Both of these places are in Sonia’s Lok Sabha district.
