In New Delhi: Since the middle of December, the Indian Navy has done 18 rescue operations in the Arabian Sea as part of Operation Sankalp. This operation was started after attacks on commercial ships in the Gulf of Oman in June 2019.

In a statement, the Navy said it was the “first responder” and “preferred security partner” in the Indian Ocean Region. it had been called to at least 18 events between December 2023 and March 2024.
How the Navy stopped a pirate mother ship

A C-17 plane dropped a group of eight marine commandos (MARCOS PRAHARs) on the ship to stop the pirates and make sure the crew could get out safely. There were no reports of injuries during the risky mission.
The navy comes to the aid of Pakistani citizens
A few days after INS Kolkata’s action, the Navy freed 23 Pakistani citizens who were trapped on the hijacked Iranian fishing boat “Al-Kambar 786.”
That same day, nine armed pirates are said to have boarded the ship.
In the 100 days that began on December 14, 2023, the Navy saved the lives of 110 people, including 45 Indians. Between November of last year and March of this year, there were more than 90 maritime incidents. These included 57 attacks or sightings of drones or missiles and 39 cases of piracy, hijacking, and suspicious approaches.
