The cops had said earlier that they were looking into what went wrong at The Rameshwaram Cafe. Police, the bomb squad, and the forensics lab all sent teams to the cafe to look into the attack. When they got there, the Chief Minister told press that an IED (improvised explosive device) was used.

“It’s been said that there was an explosion around 1:30 pm.” There was also a bag. It’s being looked into… It looks like it was an IED. “We are looking into it,” Siddaramaiah told a reporter.

In a post on X (or Twitter), BJP’s Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya said he talked to the cafe owner about what might have caused the blast that hurt nine people.

“I just talked to Sri Nagaraj, the founder of Rameshwaram Cafe, about the blast in his business.” He told me that the explosion wasn’t from a cylinder but from a bag that a customer had left behind. One of their workers is hurt. It looks like a clear case of a bomb going off. “Bengaluru wants Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to give clear answers,” Mr. Surya said.
