Picture-in-picture mode for video calls on iOS has finally been added to the instant messaging app WhatsApp.
The Verge, an American technology news website, said that the picture-in-picture mode for video calls on iOS has finally started to roll out. This was first spotted by 9to5Mac.
According to the news source, WhatsApp started testing this feature last year. It lets users open other apps during video calls without having to stop the call.
Like FaceTime’s “picture-in-picture” mode, WhatsApp will shrink your video call to a small window that sits on top of any app you use. This lets you talk on the call while you look up information online, read a book about the topic, or even play a game.
The latest WhatsApp update for iOS (version 23.3.77) gives users access to picture-in-picture mode. However, you might have to wait a little while to use it, as WhatsApp says it will roll out the feature “over the coming weeks.” This is also true for a few other features included in the update, according to The Verge.
This is shown by the fact that you can now make avatars that you can use as stickers and profile pictures, that longer group descriptions and topics are supported, and that you can send documents with subtitles.
The Verge says that earlier this month, WhatsApp added brand-new status features that let users share their status with a specific group of people, respond to someone else’s status with an emoji, record voice updates, and more.
