In early trading, the rupee fell to a record low of 78.59 to the US dollar.

Opening trade on June 28, the rupee fell 22 paise against the US dollar to an all-time low of 78.59 vs the dollar, a result of continued outflows of foreign assets.

The rupee began at 78.53 versus the US dollar on the interbank foreign exchange, then lost ground to quote at 78.59—its all-time low.
