A film producer was arrested for allegedly smuggling drugs worth ₹ 2,000 Crore.

According to the Narcotics Control Bureau, Jaffer Sadiq (A film producer was arrested) was caught after a four-month manhunt. He was a former DMK official who worked in the South’s film business.

Someone who makes movies has been caught reportedly smuggling drugs worth more than ₹ 2,000 crore out of the country. The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) said on Saturday that Jaffer Sadiq has been on the run since February 15. He used to work in the Tamil film business and was a member of the DMK.
The NCB called Sadiq the “kingpin” of the drugs trafficking network that went from India to Australia and New Zealand. He brought drugs worth ₹2 billion to Australia and New Zealand illegally.

Drugs worth ₹ 2,000 Crore

NCB Deputy Director General Gyaneshwar Singh said, “He sent 3,500 kg of pseudoephedrine to Australia in 45 packages.” The fake drug pseudoephedrine was sent abroad hidden in dry fruits and coconuts. It is illegal in India because it is used to make methamphetamine, also known as “crystal meth.”

He said that Sadiq got to Jaipur by going through Thiruvananthapur, Mumbai, Pune, and Hyderabad.

“Jaffar Sadiq (A film producer was arrested), an international drug lord and DMK official, is on the run.” The NCB is searching the businesses of DMK officials. He wrote in an online post, “30 kgs of methamphetamine were caught in transit in Madurai today by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence. He made crores by shipping drugs and put the money from those sales into real estate and movies, including his most recent one, Mangai. Mr. Singh also said that he bought a hotel with the money from selling drugs.



Sadiq has already made four movies, and this month, one of them is set to come out.



A week before he was caught, police in Madurai and Chennai found 180 crore worth of methamphetamine on two train passengers and in a dump yard. It was planned to sneak the drugs into Sri Lanka.

The NCB recently nabbed three more people in Delhi who were part of this international drug ring.
